Veteran of five Young Eagles' tours heads 2011 campaign

Niantic, Connecticut - The United States Young Eagles Rifle Team today announced that Michelle Gallagher has accepted the position of team manager. As a three time National Long Range Champion, five time Wimbledon Cup winner and 2007 Palma team member, Gallagher will use her talents to lead another winning team of the nation's finest young shooters to the Fullbore World Championships in Australia in 2011.

The Young Eagles have earned either silver or gold medals at each world championship since being founded 1999. Gallagher has been associated with the Young Eagles since its inception and captained the team that won the inaugural U21 World Championship in England in 2000. She toured with the Young Eagles in 2001 and 2002, and captained the 2003 U25 team to the world championships. In order to continue her involvement, Gallagher served as "Team Big Sister" in 2007 as she was too young to be "Team Mom."

Gallagher is preceded as team manager by J.J. Jackson. "It has been my honor to be associated with the USA Young Eagles and represent our great nation with such a fine shooting team," said Jackson. "I could not have asked for a more accomplished successor and stand ready to assist Michelle any way that I can to insure the team's success in 2011."

The Young Eagles is a team of 24 shooters from many different walks of life and locations across the United States who will compete in the Fullbore World Championships in Australia in 2011. The championships are held once every four years and hosted by participating countries. The team is responsible for supplying all of its own ammunition and rifles as well as raising the money for equipment, travel, food and accommodations.

"I have grown up with the Young Eagles and am passionate about competitive shooting," added Gallagher. "Having the opportunity to lead the team to success in Australia fulfills a lifelong dream."
