I picked up a X-3 yesterday at the local gun shop and fell in love with the feel, weight (7 lbs), features and fit. I currently shoot a Remington 11-87 ' gun and really have had good success with it. I mainly hunt waterfowl and have wanted a 3 1/2" gun for a while. The Brownings and Berretta's just don't fit me. I was thinking about the Benelli but I would prefer a gas operated shotgun. Does anybody own one that can give me some first hand experiences. Mainly I am concerned with reliability and does it cycle 2 3/4" to 3 1/2" every time. Thanks for any help and insight.

Checked with someone that owns one and with a certified "Gunsmith" and got the thumbs up on both. The gunsmith said he had never worked on one but to clean it. That is very good !!!!!!!! He worked for a very busy sporting goods store.

My Browning Silver hunter is very reliable though I haven't put it through a torture test like a Fall dove hunt. It cycles low 2-3/4 brass no problem but thats all I have fed it so far the shottie has a Browning Gold 28" BBL on it. The silver is light and points effortlessly.
Too bad the Brownings don't fit you should shoot with whatever you are comfortable with. One of my buds has an 1100 I think its a Remington or Winchester its a good shooter too.
Sorry I couldn't help you more.

Thanks "VA varmintor" I bought a SX-3 with the new Mossy Oak Duck Blind camo in 26" barrel. It has the same gas system as the Browning Gold and Silvers. It is also lighter. I can't wait to shoot it.

calfowler, Congrats on the new shotgun.
I have not shot the X-3 but have swung a few at the store, they feel real nice. I shoot the X-2 and have been very happy with it. I can shoot everything from skeet loads to 3 1/2" mags. with no feed problems. Enjoy the new purchase.

I am looking at the X-3 now. $799.00 at Turners in synth....$949.00 in Mossy
I am considering the 28".
Why buy a 26"?
