I'am new to the Di6 hunt, and was wondering if anyone could help me in the way of finding routs to huntable land. There seems to be so much private property between Nat'l Forest, BLM, andDFG land. any help is a great help. I'd glad to help in any info I have even if some what limited in my knowledge of the area, Oh I do know Arizona pretty well.

florencio ###Welcome to Jesses Forum. Randy Botta is the DFG biologist for D-16. His number is 760 751 4023. ###I would give him a call. I have hunted turkeys there but I have never hunted deer there. Fubar

Florencio, "Palomar Mountain...from a numbers standpoint, Palomar Mountain produces the most deer. Of the 235 deer taken in the '99 season, 75 were taken from the Palomar Mountain area". Stands of oak trees and pockets of pine make up much of the terrain Huntinbg pressure can be high, getting away from roads can be the key to seeing more deer. So be prepared for long hikes to prime hunting areas.....Kitchen Creek, ya need a hunting partner in this area, two working the draws and ###canyons se deer that one hunter cannot, there are a few patches of private property so a good map is advisable....Laguna Mountain Recreation area open meadows with tall pine and oak forest, this is a bow only hunting area due to the hiking and camping in this area......McCain Valley/Table Mountain, jagged rocks and cactus in this area, a good hunt with very difficult access...Finding deer consistantly in D-16 is challanging, your success will depend on picking an area that ya like and stomping around in it....goood luck.....just ask for maps of these areas at your local map store.... ###

    THANKS FUBAR,
I'VE GOT A CALL INTO RANDY BOOTA, NO REPLY YET BUT, I'LL KEEP CALLING HIM. THANKS AGAIN.

OVERDRAWN, THANKS FOR THE INPUT, I THINK I'LL TAKE A LOOK AT McCAIN VALLEY AND KITCHEN CREEK. I'M NOT AFRAID TO GET MY BOOTS DUSTY, I'VE TAGED DEER IN THE CAMPWOOD AREA OF THE COCONINO NAT'L FOREST IN AZ. AND LONG HIKES ARE THE ONLY WAY YOU GET TO SEE BUCKS, IT WAS ALWAYS WORTH THE HIKE EVEN IF YOU HAD TO 1/4 OUT YOU DEER. THANKS AGAIN.
