I posted this question on Hunting net.com and got no answer. ###Any information on the hunt this year at this new wildlife area. ###The NM proclamation that comes out 3-1-02 I am sure will have it but wanted to know sooner.

Welcome Roger C to Jesses forum. :wavin:

I have never hunted elk in NM before. I've been waiting for the porc to come out also. But I will be putting in for a muzzleloader elk hunt with USO outfitters. If I am not mistaken, someone correct me if I am wrong, the Baca Ranch is a once in a lifetime draw.

Two years ago the US wildlife dept got the 97,000+ acres. ###Before it was a priviate ranch which you paid up to 8 to 10,000 to hunt on. ###Now we own it. ###Most likely it will be a once in a life time. ###They did not have a hunt there last year at all. ###The Bulls will be great for whoever get in. Rumors are it will be a lotto type thing like AR or KY. ###Just do not know.

This makes me sick, public land and elk being used for profit for Washington? :mad-fumin-red:

What happens to the money the Valles Caldera Trust collects from this debacle?
