Not mine, but I thought you all would like to see it. A friend sent me the picture so I don't know the whole story behind it. I have encountered a few lions over the years, but nothing like this one. It is supposed to weigh 210 lbs and was taken in Oregon.

Very nice, tell your friend congrats. Looks like that thing has been eating real well.
The cuter the animal, the sweeter the meat
I've seen a few cats in my life also, but that's the biggest one I've ever seen. 110 lbs would put it right up there with the biggest ever in weight, who weighed it? The head looks large enough, maybe it could make the book. Thank for showing us the pic.
that is the largest cat I've ever seen posted, the shot of the man picking it up really measures up well to the actuall size of the animal
If you cant hunt, fish.....if you cant fish, hunt
If it's a real pic that thing is a MONSTER!![]()

I would love to see that cat following me within range in orgeon. There is a season and tags are resonable there.
I don't think that that cat was taken in OR by a regular hunter thought.
I belive it is illegal to use hounds in OR now.
I would love to take a cat over 200lbs

HOLY WOLF-BISKETS, THAT THING IS HUGE! I'll bet a lot of deer made a one way trip through that thing.
SWITCH thats gross, you mean the deer were eaten and then never came back out of the kitty? LOL just kidding.
That thing is a M-O-N-S-T-E-R. Kinda scary to think of what those claws and teeth can do to a fella when you consider how mean a regular house cat can be if its really ticked off.
VA_Varminter
VA, sorry, when I see pictures of huge animals like that, I tend to think how many other animals it's eaten to get that big...BIG KITTY!
switch, I saw the same vision- it was just with two elderly people here in California. In one meal.

Not to appear skeptical, but, I don't believe that the guy in the photo can pick up 210lbs of dead weight and secondly, the cat looks alittle too well fed to be wild! A cat that size would have a hard time making a living in the wild. I personally think it is a canned hunt, or a recently released pet that happen to be at the wrong place at the right time. There is a reason that you don't see many abnormally big for their specis critters in the wild, they don't live long!
Now if the cat was killed in Califonia, I would believe it. He probably just ate joggers and bicyclist as they came by, knowing full well that he would never be killed by the PETA people.

Have you got anymore pictures youre buddy can send you?
I have shown these to some skeptical old hunters and they seems to think there was some cuttting and pasting going on because of the same angle of the first and last picture and none of the dogs are looking at the cat.
No disrespect intended from me they look real as far as I can tell. I have blown them up and zoomed in on them all over the picture and I cant see anything funny.

That is huge cat but The first statement in the Oregon Cougar hunting regulation is,"No person shall use dogs for taking or pusuit of cougars". I'm not slandering, it is in black and white in the regs. Also if you look at the first and third pics, the camra was either on a tripod or the pic was cut and pasted, the vew of the lion is exact even the blood in the snow at its head and shadows are in the exact places.
I will weigh in with my 2 cents worth. The first and third pictures looked to appear altered. The second picture with the guy hoisting up the cat looks real. But a good point was made that it would be very difficult for a 5'10-6'0 180-200 pound person to lift a 200 pound dead animal. The original person who posted it said he didn't know many of the details but said it was supposed to come out of Oregon. He may have got the details wrong. Where it was killed is not the point. The point is this, are the pictures real and did this guy kill a 200+ pound mountain lion?
Skillful people can do amazing things with photoshop. I don't think it is real IMO.

Okay photoshop work. But not exceptional. Perhaps the first clue may be that none of the dogs are looking or sniffing the cat.
But particularly on the third photo there are several indications of photoshop. Biggest clue is where the editor tried blurring the trees in the background too much and you can see the cutout of both guys heads easily. As well as all the dogs.
edit to say:
That second photo is sure well done if it was photoshoped though.

Good thing, can you imagine calling that one in during Turkey season!

Well like I said, a friend sent it to me. He did not take the lion. I have not heard anything else about the lion, but even if it is doctored the cat still looks big. The second photo looks pretty real to me where he is picking it up. Look at how the skin on the cat roles up under its front leg from the pressure of being lifted. The first and third pictures do look a little questionable if you look closely, but who knows? The internet is a pretty amazing thing.
Either way if the cat is real, the thing is huge. The size of it's head is awesome.

chrisout, that cougar story and pics you posted are real. Jim H (jjhack), who mods the Africa forum here, is the guy in the pic.

Wow, thats cool. I was just doing an internet search and there was several references that came back indicating that the pictures could also be modified.
I thing I can tell for sure is that weather the pictures are doctored or not. Both cats are very large.
I have seen a few cats in 30 years of hunting and some very health and sizeable but never the size of those ones.
Of couse all of the ones I have seen have been in California.

Wow, that's one honking cat!!!!! I do agree with the posters here about the first and third looking 'photoshop" touched up. I wonder why they did that if it's legit.
Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead, but here are the true facts about this cat. The cougar was killed in Drayton Valley, Alberta. The outfitter was Byron Stewart of Tracks 'N Trails Outfitting www.tntoutfitting.com. Nobody knows if this cat wighed 200 pounds because it was never weighed, but it did officially score 15 &10/16. The amazing part about this, is this cat was 3rd or 4th largest taken this past season.
How do I know this? I am good friends with the outfitter and I shot my second B&C cougar with him 15 days after this one was taken. For the doubters, none of the photos from above were photoshopped. If you don't believe me just go to the outfitters website and look at the 2006-2007 lions.
I pooped my pants when I saw this big Kitty. I think I'm going to have nightmares....

The photos are real but the accompanying story is not. Jesse, that is not jjhack.
I was going to provide the same information that Rob indicated, but he beat me to it. Thanks for putting the wild stories about illegal houndhunting, JHO member involvement, and accusations of Photoshop officially to bed.
For you doubting Thomases out there, let me just clarify that disinterested hounds are NOT an indication of a fabricated photo...many lose interest once they know their job is done.

I've slapped a pair of handcuffs on many of hogs in GA, and once those handcuffs are on, them hounds could care less about that pig. The only thing on there mind is where is the next one. I'm sure the same rings true for any experienced hound no matter what it's hunting.
