This past weekend I shot a bigger than normal wild boar with a X bullet and had ###great results with bullet preformance, but there have been more times than not that well placed shots have less than par results. FMJ ###Any one else have these problems ? ###I have taken close to ###ten animals with these particular bullets and have found five of the bullets. ###After looking at a barnes after recovery out of a animal ###they are impressive. ###95-100% weight retention, perfact petal peal back and a perfact mushroom look.

    ### ###I shoot a 308 win and load the 125 gn X ###@ 3230 fps +or - (chronoed) ###they group well and when expand are some of the best IMO. ###But I have shot ###hogs and just have ###straight pass throughs, even through bone. ### This last hog was a monster ###over 300lbs, the shot was quartering and entered ###3 inches behind right ###shoulder passed through the lungs and ruptured the heart, passed throulgh the left shoulder and lodged under the ###hide on the opposite side. ###Shot was ###between 175 and ###225 yards. ###With results like this its hard to ###deny that this is a good bullet, but ###the FMJ results keep me wondering...???? ### ###I just bought a 300WSM and am ###going to have to ###find a load suitable for the gun and ###quarry, ###Any thaughts?

Some folks like them because they blow right on through and leave a good blood trail. ###I like to see the animal fall right there or within a few steps. ###Although I don't shoot Barnes, I have in the past. ###The best way to anchor an animal with a Barnes X is right through both shoulders. ###And they will fall like lightning. ###The downside is you damage a lot of meat. ###This is why I don't use them anymore. ###I just put a Hornady Interloct right behind the shoulder and they go down within a few steps. ###I tend to like a bullet that expands a bit quicker (no ballistic tips), but thats just my opinion. ###Put a Barnes X behing the shoulder and the hog may run a ways. ###The good news is that you should have a blood trail and if you can track you will have a dead hog. ###Its all personal preference. ###
