Hey anglers, We moved over to San Benitos yesterday and we caught a few yellowtail at west island and a few at east island. Most of the fish were 14-20 pounds and were caught on yo-yo jigs. We decided to move to Cedros island and try for those big yellowtail that have been caught over the past 3 weeks. When we got there there wasn't any current and the wind was blowing 20-25 knots in the lee, so the conditions weren't right for those fish to bite. We only caught a sample of those nice yellowtail and wished we had stayed at San Benitos. How do you predict that sort of thing? That's fishing. We are moving up to Canoas Point today to try for yellowtail there, We got a report of a sign of fish there so we will check that out. We're not giving up yet. The yellowtail didn't cooperate here either only a few fish in the 8-12 pound range but excellent fishing on shallow water rockfish and sand bass. Lots of action in calm weather for a change and we had some fun. A synopsis of this trip is we were victims of poor conditions at every spot we tried with a lot of wind and no current which isn't a very good formula for biting fish. We worked our butts off but didn't produce the numbers we had hoped for when we left the dock. We will get them next time, Capt Art
