Augnmike and I went out, uh recently to shoot the .204's and chase jacks.

We arrived out at the desert around 7:00 and it was already getting warm. I tried a few coyote locator sounds on the FX3 and got one long-off response that was not too enthusiastic, so we decided to shift to rabbits.

We spotted dozens right off and after shaking off rabbit fever, we both started connecting. We'd find an area, sit and glass, spot and snipe. After 20-minutes, we'd pick up and move to a different spot. At mid-day we had 16 confirmed and decided to re-fuel and make a move.

After lunch we started spotting jacks in small shaded depressions. We found one area in the shade that held six lounging jacks and 1-2 cottontails. We set up, each picked out a jack and decided to shoot at the same time (that never works!). 1-2-3, bang, one shot (we shot at the same time), two dead jacks at about 120-yards.

The heat chased us out at about 1:30. We ended the day with a total of 23 jacks and had a great time. The cottontails are thick right now.

The Ruger VT .204 loves the 39 gr Blitzking.
