Got online and surfed the Aussie dealers and found a pre-1898 Winchester Model 92 rifle (24") in 25-20 WCF that has been rebarreled with a new octagon barrel but is otherwise straight. $440 shipped to my door. That's almost cheaper than the Rossi's! this one dealer had a few "fixer-uppers" in the $300+ range... mostly with bad bores. With Green Mountain Rifle Barrels offering barreling service @ $125 for basic fitting that was my first choice but the dealer offered this rifle instead and sent photos when asked. The company is JemTrek Enterprises if anybody wants to look them up. They have quite a few pre-98 (antique, mailable) rifles. Mine will be here in 2 weeks. Twenty-five - 20 : The original varmint cartridge! Yeehaw! ~Andy

Will do, Jim. They are still around but scarcer than hen's teeth. I need to get a Savage 99 someday. Kittery Trading Post has a few at reasonable prices. No 22 HP's but in 303 Savage, one of my favorite cast bullet calibers. A long-necked 30-30! Helped a friend work up lead loads for his. What a tack driver. The 25-20 will shoot if the barrel is half-way decent. My boy has a Savage 23B that's mint and he can cut clusters with the Lyman 65 grain GC bullet and a charge of 2015BR. I built a heavy 25-20 on a M-1922 Springfield action once. Lordy! Wish I still had it! ~Andy
