Default JUDA DALE GRAVENS

Passed on by Carol Long. Blue skies Dale.

Quote:
I am not a member, but know that Dale has been mentioned on here. He made it possible for my parents and I to continue our lifelong fishing passion until ill health kept us homebound. Dale took the time and trouble to drive my father over 120 miles round trip every other month, for oncologist appts, and twice a week for several months, for chemotherapy. After my mothers passing, he visited or called my father several times a week, bringing Dad out of his depression. Mary Ann Gravens is running the resort herself this year, until deciding what to do with it.

JUDA DALE GRAVENS, son of Jewell “Hoot” and Jennie Henderson Graven, was born August 23, 1930, in Falcon, Missouri and departed this life December 12, 2008, also in Falcon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years. On April 10, 1954, he was united in marriage with Betty Reeves. She preceded him in death on January 12, 1990. He then united in marriage with Mary Ann English on December 5, 1993. At the time of his death they had celebrated fifteen years together. Dale, as he was known to family and friends, left high school and joined the United States Air Force on February 11, 1948, until his honorable discharge on January 11, 1949.

He remained in the reserves for six years. He was dedicated to his country and proud of the time he spent serving. Dale grew up in the Falcon area, where he remained and made his home. He was the owner and operator of Gravens Resort since 1954. He has made many friends through the resort and cherished each one of them through the years. He was a hard worker and paid attention to each detail of making the resort appealing to his customers. When he wasn’t working, Dale spent every free moment he had, fishing. He enjoyed the tranquility and scenery of the sport and appreciated getting to spend time with his family and friends sharing his favorite hobby.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; three daughters, Brenda Faye Ziehr and her husband Bill of Lynchburg, MO, Doris Dale Gravens of Lebanon, and Teresa Lynn Cook and her husband Mike of New Haven, MO; two brothers, Joe Graven and his wife Barbara of Lebanon and John Ray Graven and his wife Marieta of St. Louis, MO; Mary Ann’s children, Shane Dailing of Success, MO, Erik Dailing and his wife Lorri also of Success, MO, Carrie Dailing of Kansas City, KS, Payton Dailing and his wife Victoria of Lebanon; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Dale was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
