No problem slinging some arrows. There's usually a good spot down past the skinning rack where you can set up.

Thanks guys!
btw, I will be delivering any ordered shirts to the Ranch on Friday morning (I'm heading up for breakfast and some squirrel shooting), so do not select shipping from the drop down menu, just leave it blank. (Mark from Torrance, I'll refund you your shipping that you paid).
Good luck to everyone!!

I cleared this with Jesse the other night and I'll be donating a European mount(either traditional white, or metal coated, winner's choice) to the hunt raffle.

It's good now.
Remember, use the drop down shipping menu in order to leave the shipping blank. I will deliver these to the Ranch Friday morning.
Thanks!

Quick questions: Is water available or do I have to bring a few gallons? Where is a convenient place to stop on the way down (driving south on I5) to pick up food and beer?
Thanks again,

Heya Bodega,
Definitely bring your own water. In addition to your camp water, every vehicle is supposed to be equipped with 5 gallons (or an extinguisher) and a shovel. Fire danger will be pretty high, so be prepared...if you spark one, get it out QUICK.
Grocery shopping on the way down gets pretty limited pretty quick... I always take care of everything before I leave the Bay Area. As you may know, I-5 gets pretty barren between here and there. You can always hit someplace like Bakersfield, but that requires a bit of a detour.
Ice, sodas, and beer will be available at the foot of the Grapevine (convenience stores) or at the Flying J up top.

... and the only paperwork we need to bring is our proof of vehicle insurance, right? Everything else is already in their hands? (Sorry, we moved recently, and I'm having difficulting finding things.)

I'd love to, but we're heading out of town for a wedding first thing Saturday.
I'm working from home on Thursday though, so if you want to hit Chabot at lunch I'd be up for it. Friday morning at 10am when they open could work as well (and the 200 yard is open). Do either of those work with your schedule?

CG, you should have included your proof of insurance in your packet, although, of course, you should always have a copy in your vehicle as well.
At the check-in/orientation, if everything is in order, you will receive a window-sticker for the ranch, along with a piece of paper that gives you permission to be on the ranch.
As far as shooting at Chabot... depending on my schedule this week, I might be able to make it up on Friday morning. I need to get to the range, but it's been a little tricky finding the time lately.

Hey Phil,
There was a change in plans with the vehicles in our group. I'll be taking my motorhome and towing my Cherokee up there, rather than my Dad's truck. Do I need to just bring the Reg/Insurance cards for both at check-in, or call Barbara in advance?

Just bring it with ya, Mark. Tell Barbara during check-in that you switched vehicles.
She'll need to make a copy to keep in records, so if you can do that ahead of time, you'd be doing her a favor (and getting us onto the ranch just a few seconds faster).

I'm not too worried about it, Rancho... my hog is gonna walk out and try to use my muzzle for dental floss. When he gets to the second molars, I'll touch off a round and clear his mind for him. Won't even need the scope for that.

Oh, and speaking of pools and such... anyone interested in getting something going (big pig all around, and biggest handgun pig) should touch base with me on Friday before we all get out and start hunting.

Hey Speck, let me know if you want to shoot Friday morning. Chabot is sort of on the way to work for me, so I'm happy to meet you there at 10am if that works for you. No worries either way though. I'm already sighted in.

Hey CG...
Looks like I won't be able to do the morning shoot. Real life keeps getting in the way, and I've got some work to do in the A.M. I definitely need to get some range time, but I'll be winging it. If not tomorrow, then I'm looking at Sunday. Will probably only spend a couple hours...shoot a couple boxes through the .17, then crack down with the -06.

Heck ya, I'm in for the jackpot. Anybody planning to hunt with a bow? I'll go with the bow until about halftime.
I'm hoping the area near the JHO skinnin' rack has been cleaned up since April. The stench in that part of the camping area was unbearable. Hope they cleaned it up.

That's because of the lazy ba$tard$ that don't take their carcass out of the area after they dress their hog. I know I've taken a few extra carcasses up on different occasions. Hopefully they don't leave a bunch there this weekend, or it will be really bad for the Ham Slam.

I'll be bow or pistol hunting most of the trip. I cut my trip short last week and didn't get a chance to check the skinning rack, but about a month ago we camped within a stones throw of it and didn't notice any horrible smells. It's too bad some people can't follow directions and haul their hides/heads away from the camp area.
BTW, What's up with you poets? We're a week out from this things and we haven't been graced with one yet. Get crackin'

Sorry... was waiting on OneTrack to set the bar. Since he won't...
(Think, Leavin' on a Jet Plane)
My drink is empty
The bottle's dry
I'm sitting here
with a tear in my eye
Wondering if Memorial Day will ever come
I haven't packed
A bloody thing
My guns are filthy
They should be clean
I need to take them out and shoot them some
{chorus}
'Cause I'm leaving
in less than a week
Don't know if I'll even get a peek
Tejon, I'm on my way.
{/chorus}
My knives are dull
my camos stink
There's filthy dishes
in the camper sink
Oh jeez, is it almost time?
The pantry's empty
The freezer's bare
I need some groceries
and underwear
And then I'll be prepared to make the drive
{chorus}
'Cause I'm leaving
in less than a week
Don't know if I'll even get a peek
Tejon, I'm on my way.
{/chorus}

I'm gonna hook up the trailer.
I'm gonna pack my rig.
I'm gonna drive north.
I'm gonna kill a pig.
It might have big tusks.
Or, no tusks at all.
One thing's for sure.
I'll have the "other white meat" to haul.
Could stick 'em with the bow.
Could pop 'em with the gun.
Either way I kill.
It's gonna be fun.
Old faces and new.
For sure I will greet.
Sippin' some whiskey.
Tryin' to stay on my feet.

I know there's a hog in Tejon
With flesh nice and fat on the bone
I plan to hunt hard
In search of that lard
Then slay it and pack it for home
