Roxy's limping
Roxy developed a limp that started Friday and seems to be getting worse. Her paw looks good, nothing in it and she's not swelling anywhere. I think she may have jammed her paw or something running down the stairs. When she runs she looks fine, but when she's walking she's limping and when she stands still she'll hold her leg/paw off the ground. I wan't to give it a couple days before taking her to the vet cause I really think she just jammed it up.
Can I give her anything like ibuprofen or Tylenol for the pain?
Thanks,

I wouldn't she probaly just pulled something. If it was me I would put her on straight crate rest for a few weeks. The Lab Guy

No Ibuprofen or Tylenol...baby aspirin would be better, Rimadyl is best. Crate rest and hand walk for a few days to see if she gets better.

The lower the limp, the higher the injury. A dog that is hurting in it's shoulder or elbow won't raise it's paw very high. A sore paw will be held high.
+1 on the baby aspirin, or some Arnica Montana. Gentle massage to help find the soreness, and increase circulation.

It is a young puppy from what I can remember I had a one of my young labs pups do that not to long ago at the trainers brought her home for two weeks and she was fine and put her on straight crate rest except to go to the bathroom. IMO I wouldn't give her anything, it should heal itself instead of dumping asprin and other pills in her. The Lab Guy

6 weeks left of upland bird season...newly trained dog...speed up the healing process with anti inflammatory drugs...or wait it out. I know what I'd do.
I take anti inflammatory drugs when I'm hurting, so do my dogs. A better life through chemistry....

Let me add this, though. She should be totally drug free for a few days to make sure it's healed before working her. You don't want to mask a more serious problem with drugs, only to make it worse.

Well, I just couldn't stand seeing her in pain like that so I took her into the vet. He noticed something inbetween her toes and said he would have to cut it open to really know what it was. Turned out she had a stinger in her foot, he's not sure what kind but was some sort of stinger. He removed it and cleaned up the wound, gave some meds and when I got home this morning it's like she never had an injury. All that limping around created a LOT of energy and she's bouncing of the walls. We trying to keep her calm and still crating her while she heals up. I'll take her back on the 28th and hopefully start hunting her right after.
Thanks everyone for you suggestions.

Woody got stung by a bee about two weeks ago....right on the nose. He looked like a walrus on day one, and when the edema migrated down to his jowls, he looked like a bloodhound.

Glad to hear the good news Mel. Bring her up when she's ready and we will get her out on some chukar. Our Roxy just got back from a week long chukar hunt in Oregon. Now it's time to hit some local spots for limits.
