Free printable aerial photos are available at http://www.Lostoutdoors.com. Lat/Lon coordinates in WGS 84 map datum are needed to specify area of interest to view photos.

Also try the USAPhotoMaps software on this page.

http://jdmcox.com/

This program downloads free topo maps and aerial photos to your computer and can draw them at the same scale so you can switch back and forth between them. It will also interface with a gps for waypoints as well as realtime tracking.

Trimble has a good, online tutorial on how GPS works. A little long but easy to understand.

You can get topos mapquest type and satelite photos when you use easy gps. You load up your way points and when you click on one you have the option to go to the web and choose , street map , topo , or satelite pic with your coordinates in the middle. Pretty slick and it's free or you can upgrade to expert gps and buy it!

I was reviewing the Aerial Photos page and noticed that TerraFly was not listed. It is easier to use than Terraserver and you can get downloads of the areas you want quite reasonably. I downloaded several last year and can see individual trees and some trails depeinding on the sun angle.

A download of a 10K x 6K area at 1 meter= 1 pixle costs about $12- they enlarge to about 1: 800 scale before getting grainy. Less resolution costs much less. I spent $12 each for aerial photos and my buddy canned them @ 1200 dpi and that makes wonderfully clear photos that can be enlarged 800% easily- but Terrafly sure is simpler.

Jesse, The links above must be to the old format- they seem to loop back to the main forum list now. There's lots of stuff I've been trying to access, like the Map/ ompass use tips tec.

Any chance they're still available?

Geomatics Engineering is a new term incorporating what used to be called "surveying" along with many other aspects of spatial data used by hunters, like the Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment, digital aerial imagery (both satellite and air-borne), and computer-based geographic information systems (GIS). These tools enable the Geomatics Engineer to gather, analyze, and manage spatially related information to solve a wide range of technical and societal problems related to hunting.
Fresno State offers the course, if anyone is interested:
