I called these guys and told them the problems I have been having with Roxy's eating habits and her loosing some weight. They told me to use the Level 3 during hunting seasons and back off to Level 2 during the off season. I told them that I have tried foods and she just doesn't like them. He said if she doesn't like it he'll refund my money.

Has anyone tried the Native Performance dog food, any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Today is a really sad day. my best friend bryan aka DRAKE11 on jesses had the day off so he went duck hunting. on his way home he jumped a covey a quail. while he was chaseing them there was a canal next to where he was. his lab drake jumped in. when my friend heard him get in the water he looked and noticed there was a whirlpool where the water was draining out. like a bathtub i guess, it was too late his dog drake was caught in the current and pulled down. my buddy was about to go after him but thank god he realized he would most likely drown as well. DRAKE was a great lab he was a good hunting dog in his prime. my heart goes out to my buddy he is really upset. I can't stop thinking about him so I thought I would write to you guys. RIP drake!! I hope there's a lot of birds in heaven!! my guess is there are.

Dog run vs big backyard?

I'm bringing home a pup at the end of the year. A GSP. I'm a little worried about the 6 foot fence that in some spots has some build up around it from a slope that makes it 5 foot, effectively. I'm also a little worried about the pup running the whole yard barking at things - I already have two non-hunting dogs that do a little of it.

I'm thinking of putting in a dog run for the 3 of them so that when we aren't home they have limited roaming ability and no means of escape. Seems kind of silly though with a big backyard (well, for suburb standards, just shy of 1/2 acre). Any comments?

We have cats (my wife does, I endure them) so the dog needs to be cat tolerant.

OK so I'm having problems with my lab getting wise to the e-collar. I know she knows that is what’s causing that shock. We put it on her twice a day everyday when we would go train and I wouldn't ever use it. She began to associate that, with the whistle and bumpers, as a good thing. We did that for two weeks and then we did the slow and easy introduction to collar stimulation when it warranted it. She took well as far as training goes but when it comes off she is slower to react to commands and she is just not quite as obedient. Let me make it clear she is obedient but not like when she is collared. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix a collar wise dog?? or have I ruined my dog as far as being off the collar?

Been a great season so far, pups are doing great in the field & really tearing it up, amazing how much they change in such a short time!!
Jet was way-laid this season from a leg fracture & just got back in the field after 7 weeks this past weekend, she's doing well though for having almost 2 mnths off. Next month they go to their first show & come spring we hit the trials and hunt tests! (they turned 6 mnths right about when our field competition season ended:()

Any of you boys from that area? If so is one area better than the other for chasing pointers in pursuit of birds? Either way, I look forward to exploring these new areas. It was fun chasing dogs and birds out here in the desert.

So I want to get my four year old son a puppy for his birthday/Christmas and I am looking for some suggestions on a breed of dog ?

The main purpose for the dog is for my son of have a dog to grow up with. My 10 year old has had a rat/fox terrier that has sleep with her since she was 3 years old and they are unseparatable.

I talked to my boy and being daddy's little boy, he wants a "hunting dog". I would mainly be hunting upland game with this dog and he does not need to a world beater, just one to go out occasionaly and have fun with.

We live on a some acreage so a high engergy dog should not be a problem.

Price wise, I am not looking to break the bank on this dog as I have found that the high dollar animals, be it a dog, cow or horse, seem to be the first ones to get run over or break a leg.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

While driving north/bound on Mountain Ave. just south of SBNF Fire station I found a GSP in the middle of the road limping.....it appeared it had been hit. A lady was risking her life to get the dog so i took over and loaded it into my patrol car. I took the dog around and asked the local people if they knew who the dog belongs to and they said it had been running around for a few days. it was extremly skinny and weak. I took it to the VCA in Upland and told them I would adopt it if Animal Control said it was okay.

I picked it up this moring in Upland free of charge. :). he gets along with my kids and female mutt dog.......but loves to point my rooster and try to eat him:rotflmao:. Its his nature....This dog had obviously had some time and effort put into him. He doesnt like my horses and likes to chase the cats. I have owned a few hunting dogs but they were raised around my other animals and werent too good of hunting dogs LOL.

The dog is very behaved. if everyone spreads the word mybe his owner can be found....until then Im going to use him for the season:), but he'll be in a kennel. I cant keep him so I will give him away to a HUNTING home. Dont message because you want the dog, MESSAGE IF YOU KNOW WHO THE OWNER MIGHT BE. I will post when im confident the owner is not going to surface.

Thanks for reading.....
