Thumbs up

Hello, I am new to the site and just wanted to say Hello. I have read a couple of stories so far and congrats to you all that have been succesful in hunting the Coues Deer. First of all I wanted to say that I am not a traditional rifle hunter, I am usally in the woods with my bow, however for the last 4 years I have been trying to harvest a coues deer and have been unsuccesfull. I figure maybe this year I will try something different and try to shoot the grey ghost with my rifle instead of my bow. I was reading a couple of post that some of you hunters have been succesfull harvesting the coues deer here in AZ. I was wondering if anybody here has had any experience hunting in unit 35B in Tucson AZ. I have hunted in other area's of Tucson with my bow and have been lucky to have found many deer, however getting in bow range has been the challenge. I am in unfamilar grounds with this unit, can anybody give me any advice on what section I should be hunting in 35B. Thanks for any feedback. Anthony

Go to the AZ Game and fish web site. Move your mouse over "Hunting and Fishing" and then click 'hunting'. Next, under Hunting, find "Where to hunt"-click this. You will find the state broken up into 'Regions' look for Region V Tucson and you will also find your unit 35B listed-click on 35B. This will bring up a map of that unit. Scroll down until you find "White-tailed deer" and there you will find some good general info.

For more specifc info call that office and ask to speak with the Game officer(s) for the unit. In my experience, even when I've gotten an answering machine, the officers have 100% of the time called me back.

Personally I've never hunted this unit (34A & 34B yes). But I'm sure you'll get some vital info. If it was me after reading about the unit I would call and speak with an Game Warden that works that unit then go to a map store and purchase a map of the specific unit (Wide World of Maps usually stocks them). These maps are even more detailed than "Forest Service" maps. But I would also get a Coronado Forest map of the Patagonia area to go with the Unit map you purchase.

Let us know how things went.

Geez, I'm a day late and a dollar short. I just realized you wrote this in October...well, how was the hunt?
