Canis Lupis
I was working today and I saw my first wolf!! Infact I saw my first pair of wolves!! Despite all the political BS surrounding wolves and their reintroduction it was really cool to see them out in the wild!! They were only 30 min from my house!! Oh and I saw 100+ elk about a mile further on...

I heard about your sighting in the Hitching Post. Were the elk on the south side of the highway?

If you take the seismograph road down to the powerline road the elk were there at the corral with the funky gates. Its that corral with two gates next to each other (one wire and the ffice:smarttags" /> lace> Powder Riverlace> gate) the elk were moving down that draw. Hopefully that makes sense....ffice ffice" />>>

No...I bet they are going to hang in the Keating Unit...I think they move between the sage along that powerline road and sparta butte. You have a lookout cow tag?? Are you having a bird season so far??

Wife has that tag. Don't really need an elk this year but if the right situation arises... Been taking my old Pilot dog on short quail hunts and working with a new pup (Pilot's nephew) on quail. The pups ready for chukar so this coming week I'll start going more. The wife has been getting some ducks off the Powder.

Good Luck on the elk tag....Glad to hear your old dog is still hunting and you have your new pup started. We'll have to get togeather sometime next month for a chuckar hunt! I've been too busy chasing pheasants around and hunting big game to even go on a chuckar hunt this year!
