I didn't hunt the alps this year, but have in years past. There are always some big bucks in the alps. I missed a 4x4 in the alps that was pushing 25" last year. One thing to remember about the Alps for a first timer is there are more people than you would expect. We were in about 9 miles and i saw more people than deer on opening weekend . But you don't get them if you don't go. Have you been in before? If not take a couple trips in the summer and my suggestion is to avoid the lakes because that is where most people concentrate. If you can find a spot that looks out of the way check it out. Call and talk to some people who live around, the old spoting good store in weaverville called Brady's is a good source for info. Once you have figured out a few spots on the map call and see if it is a good area. My father in law has been packing people in for years and I can tell you if you are on the right track, there are certain areas you will want to avoid because there are usually alot of people in there..

Numerous place depending on where they go. You looking for something more specific? I see you are a horse man. There are numerous trail heads up there that can easily be accessed and sometimes there is a better way in than what the map shows. We went into one spot that was 9 miles of relatively level terrain. By the map you would go another way that is 6 miles all steep up hill. So if you tell me where you want to go I can give you the info as to what trail head is best.
