one lucky dude. A GPS, map n compass, SPOT or even a radio would have prevented this.

I get teased all the time by other hunters I know for all the stuff that I carry in my pack. I have always packed everything I can think of that would help if I got lost or injured.

When I was new to hunting in Washington State (before GPS and Spot) I always carried "fire starting stuff". Perhaps it is not ethical, but my theory was that if I got lost, I was going to start a forest fire and that someone would come to put it out.

Glad he was found. His survival can only be attributed to luck. Sounds very inexperienced and was definitely unprepared. A little bit of prep and basic survival tools can go a long way.

wow that is great he is alive........but, if he was hunting why was he starving? I think as DD pointed out, inexperience may have been the key.

i am pretty good at getting lost..sucky "gift" of mine.

i wonder if he was bow hunting? i assume so, since 3 arrows shot into the air makes little noise. i would have stayed in the cabin, and waited for help.
