Haddock camp, zone D13
My buddy and I were thinking about packing into the bear trap and haddock camp areas towards the end of the zone D13 season. After hunting a few days and only seeing a fork horn, we hope we will have a better chance at a nice buck if we put some time in away from the crowds. Now if you have been in there I am not asking info on where the deer are, just some info about the area, is there water to fill canteens, what does the country look like, how overgrown? Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

I have hunted near there, but not that exact spot. Looking at my map, there are seveal creeks around both those camps. Being a wilderness area, you will have a lot less hunter traffic. Be careful of pot farms in that area! good luck keep us posted

There are no deer in haddock sport. Don't waste your time and energy going in there. You would be better off and benefit quite nicely going into dome springs.

No, unfortunately was not able to do it. A friend of mine was going to drop me off at another trail head Then I was going to hunt back to my vehicle, But my buddy ended up having car troubles. After that set back my step dad who is working out of the states right now, asked me to handle a few things for him, there goes the D13 season. Should have taken that forkie when I had the chance. Oh well next year.

I don't think you missed much. Bear trap and Haddock are not particularly promising deer camps. I don't know if the trade off in hiking time would be worth it. FYI, there is water at both. Haddock's water can be reduced to an intermittent trickle. Too bad you didn't get your D13 buck this year. D13 is a tough zone. I saw Pine Springs Campground on Saturday night of the closing weekend. It was packed like I have never seen it before. It was like a festival. I can't imagine hunting or camping under those crowded conditions. We moved off to one of our secret camps a 1/2 hour away and had all the solitude we needed.
