Lose the weight AND get a Kimber Montana in 7mm-08 or 308. Top it off with a loopy 6x36 with LR dots in talley lightweight mounts.
Shooting light rifles takes practice, and a light trigger. Adjust them down accordingly. Any smith who even suggests adding weight with lead or whatever to a lightweight rig needs to be delivering pizzas instead of working with firearms. What a complete idiot...
Practice, shoot long ranges, do it some more, and then repeat.

"Light weight is often cited as a benefit of synthetic stocks, and laminated stocks are often criticized as being heavy. But in fact, most synthetic, laminated, and solid wood stocks weigh about the same when built to the same pattern. There is little advantage to very light stocks in any case, as rifles need a certain amount of weight to swing smoothly, balance correctly, and limit recoil. If a stock is made too light, it simply has to be weighted with lead or some other material so that correct balance, swing, and recoil control are maintained."

"Additional weight can be added in the grip area, inside the butt and the barrel channel. Epoxy and lead shot make a good weight and you can dig it out if you change your mind."

I don't think these guys would be very good pizza delivery men. I'm just saying.

As for the next pizza carrier, "back pack" hunting is not "sniper" hunting.
I just shake my head at what people come up with sometimes... Adding weight to a lightweight rig....

Another vote for the Tikka t3 lite. My brother has one in stainless (very nice!) .308. He added a softer butt pad for when he shoots 180 grn. slugs (he doesn't like getting kicked like you do), and put a Leupold scope on (get a used one for a couple hundred, lifetime warranty). You can't beat a gun that cost less than $600, and is guaranteed to shoot minute-of-angle right out of the box.

if you really are cheap, the tikka light is top notch. if you can squeeze out a few more c-notes, the kimber montana is a whole new level. i forget I have mine over my shoulder sometimes. the recoil is fine, any normal sized guy can easily handle a 308. It did get a little annoying ONE day when I shot box after box of super hot 168 gr handloads prone.
