Meindl Ibex
I bought some Meindl Ibex's this past winter and have about 30 miles on them so far. Yesterday I did a 10 mile hike and on the way down I got a hot spot on my right side bunion. Any recomendations whether I should get superfeet insoles, or different socks? Right now I am wearing Redhead socks with a liner. My feet fit fairly well in the boots, but the right side slips a lil on descents. Thanks in advance!

That's a bummer. I have the same boots and love them. Never had a hot spot. Not sure what to do. I do have orthotics, similar to custom Super Feet. I say give it a try to fill up some space and make a more snug fit and to keep your foot from slipping forward. I like a lot of room for the toes. But, I think you need that insert to keep the foot in place.

+1 on the bummer hot spot.
Dont know what to tell you BUT custome SuperFeet turn a good set of boots into a great set.

I am going to try othe superfeet out. Other then the hotspot the boots feel fantastic! It was a pretty steep descent so I think if I had better insloes it would keep my feet orientated better? Thanks for the replies guys. Worse case scenario I can send them back and try out the Denalis. Is Smartwool the way to go with socks with a liner?

With the custom superfeet and a well broken in boot you should be good to go.
In the steep stuff its hard to say how any boot is going to treat your feet
I dont run sock liners, they just bug me, but I do buy the best socks I can afford and I change them every time I stop to eat or glass for any length of time.
Thats just me.

I use the REI poly liners and the REI Smart Will knockoffs with good success. I wear the Denalis and love them but my two best hunting partners (my brother and One Track) wear the Ibex and I've never heard them complain.

I'm not a big fan of liners - I just use some really thick wool socks from Smartwool and Thorlo, footbeds from Superfeet in my Asolo backpacking boots and no hotspots. My knees and hips give away before my feet hurt (10-15 miles).

I have been wearing them for 15years w no problem except they where kinda wide,I put in a set of Danner heal orthotics and they fit like glove.I always wear liners and merino wool socks, heavy in snow.Try relacing different places tighter, looser. But srtaight downhill is tough on old legs.SD says it with poles.

Try raising the footbed a little with a flat odor eater under your insole to keep your foot from sliding. This will allow the laces to keep your foot in place better.
You may be able to put a small piece of moleskin on your foot but that is a temporary fix.
Good Luck !
