What hunting/fishing/outdoor magazines do you subscribe to? Which do you find valuable for information, tips, techniques, etc.? Which aren't worth the paper they are printed on?

I get way too many magazines, and finally trimmed some down. ###My favorite for over 25 years has been Outdoor Life. ###I know a lot of it isn't relevant, but the magazine is like coming home for me... ###just always been a part of my hunting and fishing lifestyle.
I also get Western Hunter which has some good stuff, but an awful lot of Utah content. ###The pictures are great, and there's a little bit of good info. ###But it's not the most useful thing I ever subscribed to.
Western Outdoor News is cool, but mostly about fishing. ###I keep my subscription active anyway. ###It's weekly, and keeps me up on what's going on around CA.
Finally, I started getting California Hog Hunter this past Spring. ###It's not cheap, $20/year for a quarterly newsletter, but the first few editions had some good info. ###The reviews on guides are usually really good. ###The last issue wasn't all that useful to me, since almost the whole thing was one article about hunting optics. ###
I ended up with a whole pile of magazines after the Sportsman's Expo last Spring. ###I cancelled most of them shortly afterward, simply because I don't have time to read them all.
Online "e-zines" can be good too. ###Jim Matthews's Western Hunter is cool, and I enjoy getting it in my email box. ###You can also log onto Outdoor Life and Field and Stream magazines online, and read almost everything you would get in the paper version. ###And it's free.

I recieve three mag's total. 2 come with memberships, NWTF "Turkey Call". NRA "American Rifleman".
The only non membership mag I subscribe to is Deer & Deer Hunter. I feel it is the finest mag regarding deer hunting around.
Growing up I used to get Outdoor Life and Sports Afield, but once I found D & Dh I dropped to the others like a rock.

I too, have too many, California Game and Fish is my favorite because they do local deer stories. Outdoor life, American Hunter(NRA), Peterson hunting (cheap subscription cost around $8), and Rifle Shooter. Had a gift subscription of Bowhunting and it just ran out had them replace it with Field and stream. I told my wife at least its not a stack of hustlers, high society, and club. Not that I wish there wasn't a stack of those there but I don't think I'd still be married. Speaking of those, isn't it funny how every magazine you find blowing in the wind out in the desert is some sun bleached porno.

I have had so many hunting magazines over the years, it got to be so that hunting tips were just recycled from one to the next. ###It got old, so I cancelled all my hunting subscriptions for awhile.
Currently, the only subscription I have is Kit Car Magazine. ###I'm a motorhead too!

You guys oughtta check out Big Buck Magazine. It's a Canadian magazine but covers all of North America. It deals in mainly Whitetail and Muley's but the pics and stories are second to none. I only comes 4 times a year but it's the only one that I anticipate each quarter -- well cept for "This Old Truck" magazine (I'm restoring a 50 Ford F-1 truck).
I also get Deer & Deer hunting - a good mag.

I get America's 1st freedom (form the NRA), Keeps me caught up on all the gun law b/s. Western Outdoor News, not bad if you fish but not so good if you only hunt. American hunter, some good info. Guns and Ammo, always has good articles on new guns. I also get magizines on 4x4 and off road, dirt bike, and Maxium. Maxium is good, scattered stories about hunting , sports , cars and trucks, some great jokes and to top it off half naked woman.

Here is what I will NEVER subscribe to, SPORTS AFIELD.
I was sitting at the barber shop and picked up the only hunting mag there, Sports Afield and started to read it, I was amazed at the number of anti-hunting and anti-gun artilces in it. From hunters who support gun control, to people giving up hunting.
It was soo far removed from supporting hunting and shooting sports that it has no right in calling itself a outdoors magazine.
I'll stick to the NRA Amercian Hunter and NAHC hunting. Thank you.

Being a Bowhunter, I subscribe to "Bowhunter" magazine. It is the best one I have read. Most of it is good info but like any other magazine, their is always someone trying to blow smoke up your butt in certain areas of hunting. Deer act differently all over the country and the unexpected should never surprise you when it comes to hanging out in the woods day after day.

My 2cents I like Petersens' Bowhunting. ###The other two bowhunting mags I have bought have ###almost the same adds and information.
I know this has nothign to do with magzz, but I have been reading some of the posts, and it seems that we all want to hunt but the wifes think we are crazy or they just get pissed off for the money that want to spend. I thought I was the only one. Thank god I am not.
Have a good one
Richard
I get the DU and CWF magazines, subscribe to Petersen's Hunting and Outdoor Life. Used to get ###8 or so different ones a month and whittled it down to these two. May not reup on the hunting, seems like since they started the Rifle Shooter a couple of years ago the Hunting mag shrunk. Sort of like they took a BIG part of Petersens's Hunting and made a new mag out of it.
### On magazine I got since it started was California Hunter, almost cried when it went out of publication a few years back. The good news was Jerry Springer , the editor ( no, not the pain in the ass Jerry Springer) brought it back out on the internet. It's called Western hunter now and covers all the western states, some fairly informative articles about different hunting in California. Check it out at ; ###Westernhunter.com
