Nice to see some fellow reno hunters here. I'm a pig hunter myself, since moving to Nevada I havent been in the last 6 months, but I plan on making a few trips throughout the upcoming year. I do hunt pretty much everything else and love chukar and quail. I try and head out for coyote at least once a week if not twice. If any of you guys wanna head out and do some calling, let me know.

Wellington. Moved here from Mammoth Lakes early this year. Bought a lifetime hunting and fishiing lic in CA before I moved (includes one deer tag and 5 pig tags). Hunt just about anything I can eat. Have thought about hunting coyote, but have not done it yet. Didn't move here in time for big game, but have lic and will be huning birds this year.

Carlin transplant from Fallon and Wyoming and Vegas and Hawthorne and Tonapah.oh yea and Even elko at one time.... but the last 2.5years of lil ol Carlin. I wander around on Utah birddog forum and wondered if Nevada had one and stumbled in here. since so many are close and local I might just have to stick around. Try golden valley just north of reno above the A&K gravel pit . used to be alot of quail and chukar in that area. hills out toward spanish springs hold a few chukar as well

Life in Nevada is a bit different than living in Southern California. I lived in Orange County for 28 years before moving to Reno. This is a great state if you like to hunt & fish. You mentioned "Chukar". Nevada is the Chukar State! PLENTY of places within an hours drive of Carson City. Just jump in your truck and head up into the hills. Lots of BLM Property in Nevada, you would have plenty of places to explore. I live in Sparks. I can jump on my quad from my driveway and I'm hunting chukar in 10 minutes (and I do!) Chukar, Quail, Dove, Turkey, Sage Grouse, Ducks, Deer, Elk, Mt. Lion, Lopes, Predators all can be had here. I don't care for the Big Game draw in this state, thats why I still deer hunt in California. Northern Nevada still is the Wild West. If you have anymore questions, post up...

Not that I care for big game, but is it by draw for all species? even deer? is that why you go to Cali for that?
How about sales tax? its %10 here.

ALL big game is a Draw, Deer included! I do go to CA for my Deer, Pig and Bear hunting. The thing about living in this area we are so close to the California border. I can be in my deer spot in about 3 hours give or take. Nevada has no "State Income Tax" thats a selling point for a lot of people. I belive carson city sales tax is 8.25%, but I could be wrong. Carson City is not "Lush & Green". Its a typical desert community. You are really not gonna find that in Northern Nevada. Nevada has a very HEALTHY Elk population, granted most are in the eastern part of the state. If you like to Chukar hunt, THIS is the state to do it in!!!!

Finally translocated to Sacramento. Big move from Southern Cal. I got my eyes on Reno though. I like that terrain, game, etc.
Looking to hook up with some one for some chukar hunting in the next few weeks.

Well had my first Nevada hunting experience. Didnt get a shot but some good amount of chukar and deer. I like to have more people on that side of the border I can hook up with. If anyone is interested, drop me a line and we can go chase some chuks together.
