I browsed the show Saturday and came across some new products, unique gadgets, and some good information on existing and up&coming products. I think most of this info revolves around activities that you guys participate in, so hopefully it will be helpful and informative for what's to come.

Here are some notes from Saturday's visit to SHOT.
Muck Boot Company
Muck Boot Company is breaking ground with a new breathable wader, tentatively called the "Deep Stalker. It incorporates a removable 900 denier polyester overchap. This will appeal to those who use their waders for double duty. If you are waterfowl hunting, you can attach the protective overchap to the waders for when you will be wearing the waders in thick/heavy brush. You can also remove the overchap for situations that will not be abusive to the waders, such as for fishing. I was able to view their prototype and the construction quality and build seemed very nice as well. These are fresh out of the mold and have not hit the market yet, but stay tuned to Muck Boot Company (http://www.muckbootcompany.com) for more details.

Pelican Cases and Flashlights
Pelican has come out with a couple of low profile, lithium powered, polymer flashlights. The LED version pumps out 74 lumens from its laser spot xenon lamp. It has a stainless steel clip and utilizes a tail switch to provide constant power (eg on/off) or momentary action. The lights are made of xenoy with a no-slip grip pattern. Just from my hands on time with them, they were an extremely light-weight flashlight. I at first thought that they didnt have any batteries in them, but when I presed the switch, it came alive with a healthy blast of light. Pelican is also introducing a pen light, to be powered by 3 AAA's.

Also Pelican is introducing their proctective Micro Cases in the Mossy Oak camo pattern. They had the 1020 and 1040 on display. The Pelican rep indicated that the case is hot dipped, not painted. Dipping ensures better life and quality from the camo pattern. The camo cases are brand new and not available yet on their website or literature. The rep indicated that they are currently trying to gauge demand for the camo pattern on the larger cases. Visit the Pelican Website (http://www.pelican.com) for more details when they are available.

Leaf River, DC-6SS Trail Camera
I talked with the folks at Leaf River for while on Saturday, getting the latest scoop on their all new DC-6SS trail camera. This model will introduce a super-sized preview screen (2.4 inches), a 6.3 Megapixel image sensor, and a simplified menu system and user interface. The word on the street is that this model will be available at the end of June, 2006, and MSRP will be $319.95.

Don shared with me that this camera will utilize the broadcasted 5-beam sensor design (which was actually introduced mid-stream in the current model). He explained that this design will detect motion sooner, thus giving the 2 sec trigger time a head start on an animal that is moving across the camera. He also explained and showed some scenarios of how the Leaf River does a good job on capturing the 2nd photo with a 2 second turnaround time. "Good for catching that buck that is trailing a doe" he said. For more information about Leaf River products, you can visit their website. http://www.vibrashine.com/ (http://www.vibrashine.com/)

I have a press kit from all of the above exhibitors, if anyone has any questions, I can try and dig up the answers based on the material that I have, or I can get in touch with these guys as well. They would welcome any quesitons or feedback that we might have.

After spending all day Saturday at the show, Speckmisser ( Phil ) and I attended the Outdoor Channel's party. It was a pretty nice gig, we met a lot of good people in the industry, and learned a little about the industry as well. The Outdoor Channel announced some awards and recognition for various video productions over the last year. Afterwards we enjoyed a concert by Joe Diffy. Definitely a great time. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-faces-toast-beers.gif
