Firm sets recall of tree stands
Hunter's View Ltd., a Peoria, Ill., hunting accessories manufacturer, is recalling around 30,000 tree stands purchased this year. The cables on 11 models can break, causing the stand to fall to the ground. The company is voluntarily recalling the stands in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
No injuries have been reported by Hunter's View so far. The recalled tree stands weigh from 16 to 22 pounds, are made of aluminum and steel, and have a platform and seat cushion. The models involved are HVTS-100, -101, -102, -104, -300, -302, -400, -402, -500, and HVATS-3000 and -4020.
The stands, sold March through August of this year, cost from $50 to $150 and can be purchased in most hunting and sporting goods stores and catalogs, including Bass Pro Shops, Wal-Mart and Kmart.
