I have a bunch of shed antlers laying around the house. ###I've seen the chandaliers in Cabelas made out of them and they look great, except the price. ###So does anyone know how to make one? ###Do you drill through the horn to wire it or do they saw the horn in half and hollow it out? ###I think it would be cool to get some plans going.

I think a lot of the price comes from the antlers themselves. Check out the price some of the nice ones bring.
C'mon Kobby, In order to get something that belongs in the Dining Room and not the barn i think there is a little more to it than glue and hiding wires.:clean-ears:

I made one out of an old brass chandalier. ###I painted it black and used epoxy to fasten the antlers to the metal and each other. ###I didn't have to do any electrical stuff since it was an old chandalier. ###It looks pretty good...not as good as the high priced ones though. ### Good luck!

Thanks for all the help! ###The ones in cabelas are way too expensive. ###I have plenty of shed antlers so maybe I can get a couple put together. ###The perfect touch to any den!

In downtown Jackson, WY there is a big arch made of elk and deer sheds. ###I've been up close to it several times and never once looked at how they are joined together. ###I would say knobby is right on with the epoxy and hidden wire. ###The antler chandalier's that look perfect are probably just antler shaped plastic. ###You could use a Dremmel or maybe even a router and make some wire channels out to the tips and bury the wire in the channels with bondo. ###A little touch-up with paint and nobody would know.

I'm thinking of building a ceiling fan out of moose antlers. Has anyone ever seen this done?

There are many ways to do this, I have never done this yet. One way which is probally the most practical is using a long drillbit and just drilling into the core, then out then in thru the hole again until you get to the desired bulb location. I ###think there is even a flexible bit that follows the antler core. You may find out the prices arent out of line, and I know even without doing it, they are alot of work (to do a good job).
