View Full Version : Are your beaches open and publically accessible?

Texas has an open beach act, which means the public can access the beaches, park, drive and use them. But private property owners who live adjacent to the beach (eg where the vegetation line starts) are trying to keep the public out.

I was wondering how many other states along the coastline have open beaches? Has it been difficult to keep them open and accessible? Or do big $$ real estate owners and communities try to claim the beaches as their own?

We have the Texas Open Beach Advocates (TOBA) that is always fighting with private land owners and access rights to the coastline.
