Hmmm Tinhorn, the moving avatars are just animated .gif pic files. I can't think of any setting on a computer that would make them static and not move. The animated .gif files are really small so your browser shouldn't be timing out and not loading the whole file

On the smileys, I had to change some of the code for the smileys, it was messing up sometimes. Click on the emoticon link in the relply window and you'll see the new code and all you have to do is click on the emoticon you want and the code is automatically inserted.

If your using IE here are the instructions to turn gif animations off. I would assume you do the opposite to turn back on. Might want to check it out
****
To turn off graphics to display all Web pages faster

On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
Click the Advanced tab.
Under Multimedia, clear one or more of the Show pictures, Play animations, Play videos, or Play sounds check boxes.

If the Show pictures or Play videos check box is cleared, you can still display an individual picture or animation on a Web page by right-clicking its icon, and then clicking Show Picture.
If the pictures on the current page are still visible after you clear the Show pictures check box, you can hide them by clicking the View menu, and then clicking Refresh

Good Job, that was it

I should have known tho, ###a couple months ago, I was experimenting in this area.........was wanting IE to delete the Temp Internet Cache files automatically and guess I was trying to see what some of these options did and probably shot myself in the foot

I can tell it slows things down tho, our Tree to Tree Internet service is SLOwwwwwwwww

Thanx again
