Posted this also in the Muley forum but wanted to know from you guys.

This archery season I had a few funny things happen to me but one that my dad and I was talking about this last weekend was about hummingbirds. Any of you bow hunters have problems with hummingbirds buzzing you as you sat and glassed. This year while in D8 my dad and I were out glassing a ridge and I had all sorts of Hummingbirds buzzing me. The problem I figured out was the color of my flechings on my arrows. I have red and yellow fletchings and the hummingbirds would buzz me thinking the arrows were flowers. Most of this was early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Not sure if this brought attention to me or helped. I guess my camo worked since the birds were right by me no more and 6" away. Just thought I would ask since it was something that was cool about this season.

Never had that happen but it is a fact that Red flowers are a real attractant for Hummingbirds. My wife has a huge flower bed of a RED flow called Beebaum.(sp). Just draws those little buggers like crazy. I have tried to capture them on the trail cameras I make but they are quick and don't stay in one place long.

Neat story though.

Funny that this should turn up. I have had this experience several times. I was in a huge coastal scrub oak, about 25-30 feet up in a nice seat in the tree. I had one nock that was different from all my others, it was red. As my bow and quiver were sitting on the hook I had a hummingbird fly up and stick his tongue up in to the nock, not a foot from me, it was pretty amazing to see him hoovering there.
