i came in contact of a sks paratrooper model that i have been told accepts AK-47 magazines. in mint condition ( looks like it just came out of the armory )

can anyone tell me of this type of sks . i have never seen one like this before. do you think it is worth $365.00 ?

the other brand new sks's sold there are anywhere from $145.00 - 250.00 and are the ones you see more often.

thank you for your help.

Not really an issue rifle to paratroops, just paratroop in name only.

machine..

i don't have any pics of it yet due to that i have it on lay a way. looks like it has a fancier piece of wood on it than other new sks's. i found out if that it does accept ak-47 mags it is a almost kind of a inbred between a sporter type and the paratrooper model with the fixed 10 round mag. i also found out they did not import as many of these kinds that accept ak-47 mags. so i thought i would throw down some money on here.
when i do get it and get my scanner/ printer up i will try to post some pics.

spectr17..

do u think it is worth $365.00 brand new? the other newer ones went about $200.00 up for new ones and the used where about $145.00

$365 seems a bit high Quilly. Shop some more and see what others are paying.

Also make sure your state allows the AK mags. Some states, like CA, have weird laws on hi-cap mags.

I have seen quite a few SKS's labelled 'Paratrooper' model. Mainly, Russian, Yugo and Chinese.

You say that the one that you are getting has the ability to accept AK magazines. The only one that i have seen that is 'original' is the Type 84 Chinese SKS. This isn't really a 'paratrooper' gun, its just had a shorter barrel installed.

As to $365? The only time that i would pay this amount for an SKS is for an Albanian (rare), a North Korean type 63 (less rare but collectable) or a MINT Russian Izhevsk arsenal gun (also rareish).

As said before, be careful when buying an SKS with a detachable magazine, check with your local state laws. I believe that in CA, an SKS with ANY detachable magazine gets slammed under the 'Assault Weapon' category, and you CANNOT have a magazine with a capacity over 10 rounds.
Also note that the 'Assault Weapon Ban' was NOT lifted in CA when it stopped being 'Federal Law' recently. Having an 'Assault Weapon' in CA is VERY bad unless its completely registered and legal (difficult to do now).
Check with your state laws to see if you have the same problems.

Checking doesnt cost much except time, and it could save you $$$$$ in fines and/or jail time.

Does it have a thumbhole stock? There are sks sporters that have shorter paratrooper barrels that take ak style mags and have thumbhole stocks. Some stocks have a black band on the hand grip and some don't. There were some made with a fatty forearm section too.

Is it a "D" model??? Thats a paratrooper style short barrel that takes "AK Mags" in a regular sks stock. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-faces-toast-beers.gif The prices I have seen on sks's that take ak mags run between $200 to $500 depending on model(rare) and condition. I also judge it by where you live in the country and how many you see too. Some of this stuff is rarely found at gunshows, gunshops and pawn shops in some places. Heck in the northeast at one of the biggest gun shows we have here sometimes there are no mosins too let alone sks's ect. (semi auto's)
