I took 2 of my kids up to spend a couple days fishing up in the central coast on friday and saturday. Friday we surf fished around cayucos and Morro bay for a few small perch. Saturday we towed my friends 26' boat up to Moss Landing. Launched at 4:30am with a crew of six aboard we headed over to Soquel Hole and limited out in 3 hours on Kings from 15-25lbs. It was a great grade of fish and they were hitting everything in sight at times. My 3 buddies were all were former commercial fisherman and we nearly landed every hook up we had. I lost my first one due to a last minute headshake and having to use barbless hooks. The bait is a balled up in the bay and at times we had a wide open bite going and muliple hook ups. Bait, hoochies/flashers and rotary killers didn't matter. With some expert coaching and me clearing the trolling lines my kids 7 and 10 both landed their first limit of kings for the year. I put the boat on the trailer at 11:00am and we were lunching at the Moss landing wharf at Phils by 12:00pm. Scallops, fish & chips, oysters, calamari, glass of merlot and clam chowder. Life don't get a whole lot better. Thanks Sam, Ted and Rich. I'm gonna take you up on the ground squirrel shoot.
