We shot there last week. REal windy so the wade shooting on the NE corner was tough. We went over to the marina and shot off the docks on the south side by MWD where the tourny was.
I missed that toad I've been after. He swam right up and I choked, right over his back. . http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-hitting-self.gif Lots of groups milling around from 5 feet to a few on top. No wind so it was easy to see them.
I want to go tomorrow but I'm heading out for a tuna trip in the afternoon. Might try and sneak a morning shoot in.
It sounds like you can shoot Carp any time you want up in Big Bear, is that correct? I'll be camping up there for the 4th, I'll have to take my gear that I haven't even used yet.
Do I need a fishing license? I guess I should get one any ways just in case I see a rattler, I'll be legal to take one or more. I'd like to have the skins to back my bow with.
So carp shooting at big bear is any time, right?

Mike...common misconception...you DO NOT need a fishing license for rattlers!
JD,
You are correct. Page 21 of the attached regs says so.

Mike, you do need a fishing license to bowfish in CA. Make sure you have it on above the waist as I've been checked at BBL several times.
I didn't make it up Friday but the carp should be still around to shoot. I may make it up there Monday for some fun.
Aim low. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-dancin-red.gif
Made it out on monday for some wade shooting. There was quite a bit of chop on the water making it pretty hard to see the carp. There were still a few carp around but not as many as two weeks ago. We managed 3 between two of us saw lots of mud and carp jumping just had trouble seeing them in the choppy water.
I was just going to go wading too. I'll give it a try Sun morning. It will be my first time so I hope to get a least a couple of shots in.
Orso good luck sunday shoot low
