Hey all,
I fish the Lady Q on sunday with my wife. Another beautiful day on the water! Topwater bite was still on and better than the week before. I caught between 30 and 40 fish and my wife around 20, we lost count. We caught some nicer fish this week than we did last week. Had some trouble hooking up with the bigger guys. They would either just creep up behind the lure and try to suck it in, just getting the back hook if they got it at all, or slash and miss most of the time. It is amazing to see a 3+ lb smallie really rip at a topwater!!! Takes your heartbeat away when all you see is a slash and a huge brown back splash behind your Zara spook. :eek: Almost as fun as catching them. We did catch a few of the better fish by using senkos as follow up baits when bigger fish followed but would not bite the topwater stuff. Best fish was a little over 3 lbs on the scale.
The loons were adventerious and swam real close to the boat We also saw what looked like a family of red headed mergansers.
