OK, it looks like we have around 10+ coming up for the Memorial Day weekend.

Me and maybe the wife 25th PM
Phillip +1 27th PM Venison leg, Bourbon
Paul 24,25,27 AM Kitchen set up, tools, cement mixer
Bob 26 AM Tools, canned food
Dan and the crew???? ?? Decoder rings for all.....lol
Ray 28 AM
Lonnie + maybe a couple ?? Burgers, BBQ
Kenny
Harry if he can

(fill in or correct me on the dates)

So, now for the planning. I will go through my freezer (I know I have at least one abalone and a smoked pheasant) and see what I have to bring and then design a menu. What kind of beer do you like? What kind of hard stuff do you like.

As for projects, my hopes are that we can get the boxes put together and Horse Meadow Spring fenced off. If we can accomplish that, it will give me a good start on the year. Paul has a fence stretcher and a post hammer. I have two post hammers up there already. I will pick up another stretcher. Bring some good work gloves, good boots and jeans that you won't mind tearing. It is rocky where we will be fencing and two of the strands will be barbed wire.

I have my pop up camper up there already. It will have an available bed. If Kenny gets back from Hawaii in time, he will pick up his pop up and bring it along. There is plenty area to set up campers/tents. I have one Webber up there. I will bring another and Lonnie is bringing one also.

Make sure to bring your shooting sticks. There are tons of coyotes on the property. Paul is bringing up some bales of hay and paper archery targets. I am ordering at least a couple 3D targets. So, bring your bow if you want to kills some targets.

I will have two chainsaws up there. If you want to bring one, go ahead and we can cut some firewood in our spare time.

Let me know if you think I am forgetting something because I am sure I will.

I'm going to break down and mount my last Leupold 3X9 compact AO on my mini 14 to see if I can find a wild dog or two.
Anyone coming who can whistle some up???
I think we are going to have a great time. I've got cabin fever and can't wait to get out of here for awhile.

Unfortunately, it looks like Paul probably won't make it to the Memorial Day gathering. There was a death in the family and he is going to have to take care of a lot of details.

I think he enjoys the place as much as I do so I know he will make it up on future dates. On this one, we will toast him in his absence. And toast him, and toast him. And toast...........

Yea, mornings, we may feel like burnt toast...lol

I just got approved for a matching grant from the Fish and Wildlife Service. That means that any and all volunteer work that I can document will go toward my side of the ledger. Come on up and help out on any of the scheduled weekends if you can.

The May date is approaching quickly. I will be headed up next Wednesday evening. Should pull in around midnight. I know most of you won't be up until the weekend but you are welcome to come up earlier if you can.

Directions: No matter which way you are coming from, you want to head for Susanville. The easiest and most direct way to the property is to take 139 out of Susanville. The main gate to the property is 41.5 miles for Susanville. The 41.5 mile marker is about 100 feet from the gate. It is a big green farm gate. It has one lone Juniper and a camper trailer near it. I will make sure that the gate is not locked. I will also put up a JHO sign.

Once in the gate, follow the main road straight ahead. Don't take any of the smaller roads that peel off. You will climb up over a ridge and out into and around a meadow. Eventually, you will start entering into woods. The camp will be on your left. I will have a sign posted.

Then there is the menu. I am not really setting a seperate menu for each meal. I am just bringing the makings and we can throw the meals together as we go.

Breakfast: eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, cereals, milk, fruit, juices, oatmeal.

Lunch: Bread, lunch meats, fruit, cheese, juices, sodas

Snacks: crackers, cheeses, salami, smoked pheasant, abalone, fruits, pickles, chips

Dinner: Pheasants, venison, fish, burgers, buns, chilli, Ribs, potatoes, salads, corn, baked beans, bread, vegetables

and of course a liberal spreading of beer, wine and spirits.

If you have any specialties that you would like to provide, please do. I will have a bunch of coolers up there but a couple more would be handy.
