Just a quick question. I have some family in Montana that is having a serious rockchuck problem. They asked if I could come out and do some population control. Just curious what the laws are in the state regarding varmit hunting, licencing, limits, etc. If there is anything else I need to know, please feel free to educate the noob. (Just FYI, I didn't see anything on the Montana Fish & Game site and I tried the search feature to no avail.)
Thanks,
Jared

Jared as far as I know the rockchuck or (horay marmot or yellow bellied marmot) which ever of the two are a nongame species and are not protected so you should be abl to hunt them as a varmit. I 'm still checking so don't go by what I said.
I assume you are talking about the yellow bellied marmot because they are more state wide where the horay marmot pertains to the nothwest corner of the state.

I believe it is the yellow-bellied marmot.
Thanks for checking, I really appreciate it.
