Has anyone owned or shot the Handi Rifle? Its made by NEF or H&R who may be the same company. I own several heavy bolt actions and can see circumstances where it would be nice to be carrying a light little 5 1/2 lb rifle in 243 cal.

The NEFs can be a bit finicky , I have a handi rifle and with the .223 barrel that took a good deal of work to get a load that would shoot sub MOA . after about 1500? rounds It has developed a crack in the frame just above the firing pin , This is the first case of this I have heard of. I hear of great many people that get good accuracy and relibality from theres.

My buddy bought one in .243. The barrel was very rough. The accuracy was the worst I had ever seen in my life. We took it to the range with a three boxes of cartridges. We spent seven hours doing the textbook barrel break in. After we finished, what took over ten minutes to de-copper the barrel after one single shot, it took only two after ten consecutive shots. It was shooting one inch groups at two hundred yards.
Some get lucky and buy one with a decent barrel.

I have seen more than a couple where the ejector did not work properly. Maybe to weak of a spring? My dad has five of them in various calibers and all of his seem to shot fairly well.

upperea, do you pronounce that yuper? Did you ever see that movie about a dad and his sons in a deer camp in the UP? It was very funny. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley_rotflmao.gif
