Just to let folks know that you don't need to throw away your comfortable old boots just because the outer sole and/or mid sole is worn out.

Just received back my 1997 Meindl Denali's (from Cabelas), and am astounded at the FANTASTIC work this company did in replaceing the midsole and the Vibram outer sole.

The place is Rocky Mountain Resole (Colorado). They can be reached at www.resole.com or 1-719-539-1455. I spoke with "Peggy" and you will find her very polite and capable of work beyond your expectations. Oh, and http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-dancin-red.gif the cost was only $60 plus $10 for the return shipping.

I was ready to spend another $200 on new boots, but with this resoling done, now I can continue to wear the most comfortable footwear I've ever owned and at a fraction of the cost of new top end boots.

AH I had a pair of those same boots for a couple of years when both soles just fell off. I took them back to Cabelas in SD on my way to Wyoming and they gave me brand new pair the guy said they have had a problem with them for sometime. Apperantly the materials used between the boot and the bottom sole is defective and crumbles after a while.

I hate to rain on the parade but I thought I would share an experience with Rocky Mtn Resole. I sent a very nice and expensive pair of Vasque hiking boots for a simple sole and rand replacement on the recommendation of my local backpacking shop. The turn around was pretty quick but they absolutely did the shoddiest work and destroyed my boots. Rather than just simply replacing the sole, the technician did something to contort the footbed of the boots after everything was glued together. They no longer fit my foot in the toe box area. The toe rand looked like it was shaped with a hatchet. It was almost hilarious top look at the work was so poorly done. I was totally pissed and I just couldn't imagine how someone felt good about putting them in a box and shipping them back to me! When I saw them I exploded! They were nice about it and didn't charge me anything. I should have gone after them to replace my favorite $300 boots but I had worn them for a while and just figured what the hell and moved on with a new pair of similar Vasques. I'm sure my experience was an isolated one but one "burn" is enough for me.

I have since found another place back east called Resole America. All you do is go online or call and they send you a postage paid Tyvek bag already addressed. You just drop your shoes/boots in and fill out the order form and hand them to your postman. In about a week they are back and done just like the factory. This company is an authorized agent by most all of the top shoe/boot makers in the world and they have the special equipment to sole all the new type molded soles that are out there now. Top notch outfit for sure.
