Bohunter3, I am a new member. I have only hunted it once and did not see anything. The fee was like 3k up front and 3k per year. Too early for me to make a judjement call.

Bohunter3,
I have been a member for a few years and it works for me. I was a little disappointed with the club at first. I expected it to be like the private ranches I grew up hunting and it was not. There were more people and fewer deer. I think if you hunt hard and scout there would be almost as good of a chance of getting a buck on public land.
Now for the positives- It offers a safe place for you (and family) to camp and not have to worry about someone getting into your stuff, while out hunting your truck will be left alone and if you need help on one of the ranches there are people around to help you out. The ranches do not suffer from its 10:00 AM, I’m drunk and I need to shoot something that often happens on public land. Every year, except for the first, I have passed on at least a couple of bucks during the season. I’ve shot three deer in six years on their properties, but I am fine with shooting a deer every other year. My last two years have been spent chasing the same buck and that has kept me from filling my tag on multiple occasions. I have never been on a ranch that offered better pig hunting than one of their properties. Every opening morning of pheasant season has come to an early conclusion with a limit of birds. I have never tried the duck hunting so I can’t really comment on that.
I was ready to let my membership expire this year and did not. I started archery hunting again this year and just had a blast. I am sorry that I have been so long winded, but I just wanted to give you some honest feed back from my experience. If you need any more specific questions answered please feel free to ask

I think the initial comment about cost is not accurate or is for Wilderness Unlimited. GR fees are about $1600 / year. WU is much more expensive at $3K/year. I've been a member of Golden Ram for 9 years and it's an awesome club. The club is smaller but much more personal. The owner still hunts on the ranches and I've met him a few times. There are no special status members or restricted access areas. It's much more of a family type club. Members get along and are very helpful to each other. The ranche properties are amazing. We have gotten pigs and deer every year. Of course you have to work for the animals so if you're just planning to road hunt you may not see as many animals. Their duck properties are fantastic and most ranches have turkey, quail and dove. From a family perspective the entire family can enjoy the membership. We camp and fish on a number of the properties.
I've never been disappointed with the Golden Ram. I have met a few members who have been with the club for 30 years. (The club was founded in 1971). So there would be no way that someone would stay in a club for the long if it wasn't a great organization. Even though I'm not an archery I know they have some great archery property. If you're looking for something that it's over run with members and are willing to put in the effort then Golden Ram is great.

FChunter24. you have 8 posts, all of them plugging GR. 2 of them in the mentor forum where your sales pitch is not really appropriate. You dug threads out from way back to toot their horn. Are you working for them? Do you receive any compensation for recruiting new members?

Just to also straighten things out WU is only $1350 a year for big game and if you want to add duck hunting to that it is about $1550 a year.

As always, Jerry is right with his comment on WU. I heard GR only has about 25% of the ranches WU has, but which ever works best for you.
Jerry, did you change your number? I tried txting you a couple times.

All clubs (wilderness or golden ram) have nice properties with pigs and very good properties with deer/bear. As for all clubs there are many issues; scheduling (can you hunt during the week; etc.), if you can hunt during the week you are looking at the top 75% of the private land all to yourself. if you have to hunt weekends that obviously changes/ with the pressure. Both clubs will give access to property/ranches in prime country with limited access (that is never questioned) your ability to hunt during the low utilization times is yours. The one thing you must consider is the proximity to you and the number of ranches you want to access.
