Well, things haven't quite been going like I expected when I put this deer carcass out in the middle of the open field behind the house. I had hoped to be able to get the coyotes coming in to it, as I have some .223 medication for them, but with the mild winter we've had so far it seems like they've been elsewhere (though I've seen 4 coyotes in this field in one morning this past Nov.).

Anyways, I didn't really anticipate putting out my P32/pixcontroller/1060 trailcam on this until I looked out the window Saturday to see a mature Bald Eagle having breakfast! There was a crow standing nearby, but it looked about as big as a sparrow standing next to the Eagle.

I immediately got out an old tripod I had and rigged it to hold my camera, set the focus for 3m and put it next to the carcass. I was ready!

The next day a friend stopped by to ask if I got any pics of the Eagle. I told him I'd go check the camera. The weather forecast was for cold and snow, so I figured I'd pull it. Ten minutes later, as I chatted with him in the driveway, two juvenile Bald Eagles flew right over the carcass! "S___!" I thought, "they are going to land right on the carcass just minutes after I took the camera away!". Turns out they didn't, but I did manage to get a couple of interesting pictures over the course of the next two days.

Remember that these photos have not been adjusted for color and have been resized down a lot (I shoot at max. resolution). The daylight pic would probably have been a bit better if I pushed the ISO down to 100 or 50, while the other pictures really could have used the flash. Sorry about the carcass being in the pic, but I haven't had time to think about putting out some sort of perch the birds could land on first.

I'm working on a P41/pixcontroller/1040 - should be done soon. Stay tuned for Eagle pics, I'm sure to get some eventually! Keep those cams out there!!

Awesome pictures. I think they are red tailed hawks too, but i could be wrong. At any rate, those are really neat.

Very nice pictures of the Hawks! I like the fight and the puffed up look of the victor the best. A very mild winter for Syracuse isn't it? I'm originally from upstate and my sister lives in N. Cuse. Can't wait for the Bald Eagle pics................
