Warden looking for help
WHITEHALL — Game Warden Chad Murphy is looking for some help tracking down poachers who've killed three trophy class animals in the last couple of weeks.

The first occurred on November 21 near Bernice, just northwest of the Whitehouse campground. Murphy said someone killed a young, half curl bighorn sheep.

"They shot and left it there," he said. "They didn't take any of the meat or the horns."

Bighorns aren't typically found in that area and Murphy said he'd not sure where it wandered in from.

"People just can't seem to leave them alone," he said.

The second poaching occurred on Nov. 14 when someone killed a trophy class whitetail buck south of Whitehall on the Fish Creek Ranch just off Franchi Lane. The buck had 6 point by

5 point antlers.

Once again they didn't take any meat or antlers.

On the night of Friday, Nov. 26, another large whitetail buck deer, with 5 point by 4 point antlers, was shot south of Whitehall on the Lazy TP Ranch.

Murphy said the three cases probably aren't related.

"In all three, these were trophy class animals," Murphy said.

Anyone with information about the poaching can contact Murphy at 287-5597 or 1-800-TIPMONT. Callers can be eligible for up to a $1,000 award upon conviction of the poacher. Callers can also remain anonymous if they chose to.
