How long can you safely defer cleaning of a weapon that has been shot using 777 powder. I know it's less corrosive and all,but what are the opinions or actual experiences of users out there regarding this issue. I've been using it in a shotgun and seem to go out about every weekend with it recently. I'm wondering if I need to do a thorough cleaning about how often?

I've gone as long as 11 days with no ill-effects. I even shot my T/C Omega three different days during this 11 day/777 powder test I conducted last year.

First-off... the weather has to be favorable for hunting.... no high humidity or rain.

Second-off... shoot two shots - not one if you plan on doing this with 777. That allows you a chance to swab the bore & still leave enough fouling for the same POI later that week. The secret here is to swab the bore (one wet/one dry) with a lubricant that isn't 100% oil -- like for instance water soluble Lehigh Valley Lube or Ballistol. Each one displaces moisture plus has inhibitors in it to prevent rust short-term.

Third-off... use 777 FFF -- it's cleaner.

Fourth-off... Use a hard shell, foam-padded gun case that keeps the air sealed inside.

Fifth-off... What works for me may not work for you...lol

Howd'y:
I pretty much only use 777.
To clean I use a patch wetted with Witch Hazle followed by dry patch
followed by a patch of gun oil "No worrie's"
Also no rush, it can set for day's without rustin'
One more thing, I use 70gr. of FFF 777 with a round ball in my
.50 cal. Lyman GPR and It gives me almost 200fps more than
Pyro P which is FFF.
I have Crono'ed both loads.
