halibut and bass

Caught a short halibut yesterday off the rocks north of seal beach. I was told theres bass there to, but haven't caught one yet. I was using a brown plastic with about a 3/4 oz. jighead. Anyone have some experience with jetty fishing that you'd like to pass on? Seems like theres probably better places with bigger fish.
