Unique Rifle, Knife Highlight Benefit Auction
NEWTOWN, Conn. - Sportsmen, collectors and others who love craftsmanship and unique history have a chance to own a one-of-a-kind Marlin model 336 rifle and a Ross Tyser Damascus fighting Bowie knife. The items are going up for auction Dec. 1. Bidding will conclude during the 2005 SHOT Show.
Both gun and knife will be sold to the highest bidder on www.Gunbroker.com, the Internet’s largest hunting and sport shooting auction Web site.
As in past years, all auction proceeds will benefit the Hunting & Shooting Sports Heritage Fund (HSSHF) and its efforts to protect and enhance American’s hunting traditions and firearm freedoms.
Marlin Firearms produced the auction rifle to commemorate production of its 4 millionth gun. A collaborative effort from firearm engraver Neil Hermsen, custom finishing expert Doug Turnbull and Marlin collector Dick Patterson, this heirloom-quality deluxe rifle resembles lever-action guns built at the turn of the century.
Made by Ross Tyser, the Damascus fighting Bowie knife is a timeless masterpiece worthy of inclusion in any collection. The mastodon ivory handle has weathered 40,000 years, and that’s just one of many unique features of this knife.
Bidding will conclude Jan. 31, 2005, at noon, PST. Both gun and knife can be viewed during the 2005 SHOT Show held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Jan. 28-31, in Las Vegas.
