we had a bear in town today

apparently it walked through a gas station parking lot today at 5:30 am and was reported to the police who followed it until it went through the gate into the old high school football field, wandered around and then climbed the only tree in the enclosure. it spent most of the day dozing and lazing around for the benefit of the community who flocked out to see it. i took the binocs and checked it out during my coffee break. finally this afternoon it came down the tree and supposedly was tranquilized and prepped for a move back out of town. first time i have seen one out of a pen with the exception of one dead along the road about 20 years ago. they are not common this far south in wisconsin and i felt it was a real treat to see.
