I just can not see how some people can honestly say that this totally first come/first served system is fair. The definition of fair is that everyone has the same chances. From all of the posts that I have read over the past few months, it is apparent that the majority of people getting into these refuges before shoot time are the people who don't have to work five days a week. In my humble opinion, if there is a group of people that is there every week, getting there on Thursday, able to park their car and leave, THAT IS NOT FAIR. Fair is everybody has a chance at getting drawn and then driving up and trying to get in to fill in for no shows.

Thought you were dead Bigdog.

I havn't gotten 9 E-Mails from ya in a few days now. ###:] Ha Ha

anyway start your own brawl buddy. ###Try mentioning that moto thing or the ressie system being fixed for the locals or the secret back gate at Sutter and LDC that only locals from the club have a key to .

No, the BigDog isn't dead. Just been on the road a lot. And as for emails, people started requesting to be dropped from the list because of too many emails. So, I backed off.
You are just going to have to share on this point of arguement because it is a burr under my saddle also. We are all in this club and should all have the same access. In my less than humble opinion.

Bid Dog,
You have the wrong definition of fair - what you are describing is equal. ###Fair is relative to other factors. ###Like I said I didn't sweat on to Sutter this year, but in the past (other than opening & closing weekend) if I took a half-day off on Friday and got to Sutter around 1pm, I got in. ### I think a few people are making much more out of this inequity thing, than there really is. ###With the odds of getting a reservation on these northern refuges is now getting in the 50 to 1 ratio, and some predictability of getting in is important to many people. ###If I am going to take time off to get a shoot in, I sure don't want to play a game of chance to get on. ###On the other hand if I can drive up Friday evening and put in for the Wheel of Fortune it might work better to head to a lottery refuge. ###Fair is that both sets of people have a chance at what works best for them. ###The all Lotto format is unfair - it may be equal, but when you figure in the outside factors (time, drive, expense, etc) it is not fair. ###We sure don't want more hunters dropping out of the sport because of lack of choice due to a misguided interpretation of fairness. ###

I would agree that parking your car and leaving isn't fair, and that doesn't happen at Sutter. ### The line does a good job of self-policing. ###The only person that ever leaves and comes back is the guy with the ATV on a trailer. ###He uses his disabled vet status to justify him driving his ATV down the By-Pass to shoot while he waits in line. ###Though I respect what he did for our country in Vietnam, this is a violation of the rule and will be stopped this year. ###So the guy in the #1 spot will be changing this year. ###

Everyone has a different opinion of whats fair. To me it is not fair to drive hours without a resonable chance to get in. I am willing to save some hard earned vacation days so I can get in the FC/FS refuges. That is a sacrifice I make and it seems fair to me to get in for sure, having made such a sacrifice. Whats not fair is a local with a club taking up space at the refuge while his club seat sits empty and I'm not able to hunt.

Say What ???????

I took a half day off and roll into Sutter around 1 PM Friday and i got in .

You forgot to say what time you got in. Like around noon on saturday.

I think a few people are making much more out of this inequity thing than there really is.

Who stands to lose out ? ###your Avg. Joe or the Ol' Boys that can get their at 1 on Friday and ###"get in".

Where is the rule that was broke ? ###The guy was there. so what if he went fishing in the slough or for a ride on his ATV. ###
Maybe there is another book of rules .I could not find such a thing in the Hunting and other ###Uses on state and federal areas book.

Maybe it's my misguided interpretation. ###Enlighten me ###I sure wouldn't want to have the line police taking me down and making me move back two spaces for breaking the rules.

See ya in line.
