ok, i was wondering if it was safe to make the hollowed out place in a .22 bullet larger. i've made a few, tried some out on bottles, seams good. also, i just shot a bird with one from about 50-75 yards away, and it tore the wing off on the exit side. does a .22 usually do that, or am i on to something?

HT,
Do a google search on "Paco tool rimfire".
In answer to your question, yes it can be done. I have one of the afore mentioned tools (Thanks AMMOe!) and does indeed increase perceived expansion, but (personally) I believe it has more to do with swaging the bullet to bore size and increasing surface bearing than anything else. It's an interesting tool, and can leave you experimenting for months. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-sideways-laff-aqua.gif
Hope that helps some...gotta go hop on a plane now...

yea, well, i'm just winging it, so, i'm using a steak knife and a tooth pick.
p.s.: ijust dropped a bird from at least 100 yards, 4X bsa scope, it was one of those little bitty birds, just a little more than a spec on my scope lens.
