When do Tule Elk rut?

Anybody know about when the bulls start rutting at Ft Hunter Liggett?

Mid September if I remember right. I know the Tule elk near Lone Pine and Bishop are rutting then.

The elk down in the valley @ San Luis NWR were bugling like crazy opening weekend of Dove season last....non stop bugling 'til 10 a.m. There's a private herd north west of Coalinga not far from a WU property I hunted 4 years ago and they were bugling the evening before the A-zone rifle opener.

When I lived in Monterey and hit FHL on the weekends I heard bulls bugling in Aug during the A-Zone. They seemed to continue bugling at least until quail season. They were not bugling in December when I actually got to hunt them. This was a few years ago, the second year FHL had an elk hunt if I remember right.

The herd just west of Williams (Cache Creek area) is supposed to be bugling in Aug. I know a canoist who runs Cache Creek to hear them.

There's a herd on the Concord Naval Weapons Station by my house that starts bugling in Aug. and goes just into Sept. I can sit on my front porch and listen to them. I've also seen and heard them bugling on opener of A zone up around Cache Creek.
