superduty, you have to be part of the ham slam or have an explorer permit to get on the Tejon ranch. If you do have a permit you&#39;re more than welcome to come camp with us the Ham Slam weekend.

Just added one of my buddies to the list, Hog Dog. I named him that. That&#39;s why I&#39;m takin&#39; him - so he can do some bird doggin&#39; for me. He&#39;s never pulled up JHO, but he&#39;s still an okay guy.

Now, as far as horseshoes, thanks for bringin&#39; those Buck Eye. I&#39;ll be out huntin&#39; durin&#39; the day. But, if I get a hog early on, it sure would be nice to pitch some shoes.

I think we have a handful of non-JHO guests, that would probably account for the 15 or so who haven&#39;t spoken up. I also think some of those who signed up probably joined JHO just for access, and haven&#39;t posted on the list, as I don&#39;t recognize some of the names.

I was on the north side this weekend of Tejon turkey hunting and blasting ground squirrels.

Roads are in great shape. The grass is all dead on the hills so the pigs should be easy to spot. I checked a few mudholes and the pigs are using the wallows. Not many acorns around so the pigs are eating something else. I didn&#39;t see any fresh rooting.

Sounds like your dinner alone was worth the trip up to Tejon? :-) Glad to hear you got the chance to do a little "Pre-Hunt" scoutin&#39; AND some huntin&#39; to boot! I did a little scoutin&#39; near my property Thur.-Fri., near Seligman,AZ for Elk(hope to draw this year) and saw a nice Cow Fri. evening, just as I was pullin&#39; onto the paved road to start headin&#39; home to Californy! Boy!, Is that a lotta meat on the hoof!
For any of you fellas that might be thinkin&#39; of huntin&#39; Ariz. this Fall...Big Game Apps. are due in BY June 8, I had Jeff Rogers...aka "Coues" on the JHO Site, give me some tips on good Elk Units to apply for and IF I&#39;m successful, he&#39;s gonna do one of his famous Scouting Packages for me! And as some of you already know, he&#39;s a "Stand-Up" guy that really knows his stuff! Just ask "Buckeye" or "OneTrack" about their Deer/Javelina Hunt in Jan. I&#39;m sure they&#39;d be glad to repeat it again....and again, and again, and again! :-) :-) Hell, it probably gets BETTER with every telling! :-) I know Midbrooks Turkey Tale does! "I" was the one takin&#39; the pictures, the only thing that&#39;d shoot was my camera, I had a 10-Ga. with a busted firin&#39; pin :-( Probably shoulda&#39; tried "Clubbin&#39;" a bird ta&#39; death...damn guns heavy enough! :-) "Just" kiddin&#39; Bill...I had a GREAT time that weekend huntin&#39; with you and am lookin&#39; forward to doing it again next Spring! I have pulled up the "Tejon South map", but that doesn&#39;t say where camp is. Do we go past the "dry field"? How far from Tejon Lake? Do we take the fork in the road? FPSCABS, The camping area is located at the fork in the road at BEAR TRAP. You can camp on the left or go right up bear trap and camp. With the size of the JHO party I think I would camp on the flats to the left. { you drive past dry field about three miles or so...}

Looks like we&#39;re dropping two from the original 50.

I think Hogskin announced already, so most of you know he&#39;s had to bail due to an injury.

One other non-JHO member also had to bail due to a family emergency. Unfortunately, both of these guys had to jump off at the last minute, so there&#39;s no opportunity to fill their spots.

Looks like almost everyone is gonna be there in plenty of time to get checked in and make the afternoon hunt!

I will be on standby. My brother had a heart attack Monday and is in the ICU. He is doing better today but you never know. He’s been on a kidney transplant list for 7yrs with no luck. Poor kid, he’s only 34.

Does anyone have a cell phone that works on the ranch just in case? I have AT&T and can barely get a signal in town. I will bring my wife’s phone also (Sprint).

My mom was on a kidney machine for 14 years. Now she has a donated kidney for the last 12. It took her about 7 years so hopefully your brothers is here soon.

I also have a kidney problem, Polycystic kidney dicease. Basically cists grow on the kidney and eat your kidneys away. Check-ups for me every 6 months.

I have been dealing with kidney stuff for ever, so if you have any Q&#39;s, let me know and I will answer to the best I can. If I don&#39;t know the answer my mom does. She is Pres. of kidney transplant groups in San Luis Obispo.

As to phone service, I&#39;ve seen Sprint and Verizon phones working well up on the ridges. Of course, nothing works in the canyons. One thing you could do would be to use the Ranch phone numbers for an emergency contact, and they can contact or find you (for example, on Friday and Saturday nights in camp)... or if it&#39;s really major they can find you in the field.

I&#39;m using Verizon, and you&#39;re welcome to give my number as a contact. Shoot me an email, and I&#39;ll send you info.

Let&#39;s set CB, HAM and FRS channels to monitor also. Last time I missed Chris (Dilproxo) getting a pig right above me and left him all alone to drag out a hog. A radio would have made a world of difference.

CB - monitor channel 12.
FRS - monitor ch 2. No Privacy code. 462.5875 mhz
HAM - 144.450 mhz, no PL.

If you need help, hail on those channels and hopefully someone will hear you and help or relay to someone to come help.

I&#39;ll also have drawing tickets for some prizes Saturday night so make sure you get a drawing ticket. I&#39;ll give some to Phil too so see one of us for a ticket for the drawings.
