Guys,
I am looking for a spotting scope and was looking to get some opinions on two scopes. The Bausch and Lomb Elite 15-45 X 60 and the new Leupold 15-30 X 50 compact. I backpack hunt so weight is a strong consideration. Any experiences with these two spotting scopes?
Thanks,

I have the 15-45x60mm B&L Elite spotting scope and I take it everywhere. It's compact "roof" design, light and waterproof/fogproof. It also PC-3 phase coated. It is very clear and sharp. I use it for high country mulies, goat, elk, bear, etc.
I would not buy a spotting scope with a 50mm objective, 60mm is minimum for lower light conditions.
Even the US Army snipers are issued the B&L Elite 15-45x60mm spotter. Plus I think they're not as much money.

Well I finally broke down and ordered a good spotting scope last night. I was looking at
The B&L Elite series. I found the 60MM for $300 and the 70MM for $350. But I accidently
ordered the 80MM with the 45 dergee - 20X60 zoom for $600 on Ebay. It was late and I ment to put a Bid and see if I got lucky or not.... I pressed the "buy it now" somehow and next thing you know I was checking out with pay pal....
My wife doesn't really believe it was an accident, but honest I didn't want to spend more than $500. Well I woke up early and thought I had better see if I got a good deal or not.
Well I saw most sites offering it for $850 - $650 , So I didn't make a big mistake , as long as I actually get the spotting scope.
I get lucky often and sometimes when I make a mistake it turns out to be the best thing that could have chosen. Now All I need is to get drawn for a G-3 Goodale deer tag.

My B&L 80mm elite just arrived. Looks pretty nice , clear and bright. I'll have to field test it under different conditions to see how it performs. Works pretty good with eyeglasses On.
