I thought this would be a good topic. I always like to hear what other peole carry while out on the farm in loafin around in the woods. I usually have my refurbished enfield no 5 carbine in 303 or a marlin 25 in 22. these are the guns i grab when i just wanna go out and walk around the woods or cruise the property in the jeep.

I usually keep a couple of old stand-bys in the truck.
An old Stevens model 311 12 ga double, an NEF Handi-rifle in 22-250, (I wish NEF still made 'em in 22-250, I'd buy another one. ) and a Ruger Mark II pistol

When I'm in the woods I like my Henry .22 lever-action. It is short, light and easy to handle. Nothing too threatening around here as far as critters are concerned. But, I always have the ol' 9mm on my side J.I.C.

Any one of my 5 Savage M24 rifle/shotgun combos and a S&W .357 revolver (either a 4" M66 or 6" M686, both stainless). http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shootin-green.gif http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-gunfighter-yellow.gif

When walking around camp I usually have my Marlin 881 in .22 LR. Since my nephew did a little work on the sear it has a super sweet trigger, good enough for head shoots on gophers. It is topped with a Tasco 22 Mag scope 3-9 x 32.

I have the same Stevens 311 double in my truck. It's been pulled out for everything from squirrels to deer to coyotes. Great truck gun.

You guys see that Savage brought back the old 311? Called the 411 now though...
Just a thought for those who like the SxS scatter guns...

A Marlin .357 Mag 1894C in mine. Enough gun to handle any SoCal critters, or self defense issues. Redlance

I always seem to find myslef in the middle of nowhere looking for some 'yotes, and never having the right rifle in the truck. so for the past year I started keeping my Mini-14 in the back of the suburban. the only problem....I could'nt hit anything closer than 50 yards. it was flat out just no fun to shoot. So I sent it to Accuracy system in CO. they put a .750 bull barrel on it along with their 1" gas block. new trigger, bed block, and topped it with a 3x9 bushnell. I keep a few boxes of 45 grain v-max ammo with me. Since doing that, I've been able to drop rabbits and yotes both at well over 300 yards. it's a blast to shoot and I've gotten in under .75 groups at 100. Now it never leaves the truck. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shootin-green.gif
